The Black Swan at Helmsley is a historic inn, turned boutique hotel. Its varied exterior, with its black and white timbered, Elizabethan and Georgian elements, portrays a rich history dating back to the C15th. Right in the heart of one of the North Yorks Moors' prettiest villages, the hotel is smartly appointed, blending antiques with classic contemporary design. Originally a coaching inn, it thrived throughout the 20th century and became a well-know refuge for those escaping from everyday life. In essence, that's still what we do today. Guests come here to walk in the North York Moors National Park, enjoy Helmsley's many shops and galleries, visit great landmarks like York Minster, Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey, and explore Whitby and the coast. Yorkshire is renowned as being a county which produces some of the finest foods in the UK and nowhere is this recognised more than at Helmsley's Black Swan Hotel. The acclaimed 2 AA rosette Rutland Restaurant, which was recently refurbished, offers three distinct menus for dinner, all of which use ingredients sourced from within 30 miles of the hotel wherever possible and change regularly to utilise the best seasonal produce
